In a nutshell,
Johanness Nilsson
Poly(glot)•math
San Francisco born, pre-dotcom Stanford Grad. drop-out.
I'm a full-time hacker, electro-mechanical engineer, and builder working at the intersection of hardware, manufacturing, and applied science. My background spans computer science, electronics engineering, precision machining, industrial automation, and large-scale energy systems—with hands-on machining work bridging the gaps between CAD and physical reality. Shaped by a lifelong practice of lateral thinking and a continuous pursuit of education and personal enrichment.
At Terraform Industries, I help build a culture of open, hands-on engineering where learning is earned through practice and hard-won knowledge is meant to be shared rather than guarded. Occasionally I write about that process honestly—the late-night mistakes, broken tools, and small insights that rarely make it into textbooks but matter deeply in the real world.
Hobbies; EV-Restomod: Restoring vintage automobile chassis and re-powering with custom bespoke electric drive-train tech. Hack, modify and upgrade retro analog & digital synthesizers, samplers and drum machines. Composing and recording avant-garde electronic music for the enjoyment of bedroom shut-ins, weirdos and creeps. Making useful stuff with open-source computer software, second-hand CNC machines and high-powerd lasers.
